Description of Event:
Spain, with a GDP of USD 1.3 trillion and a population of 46.6 million people, is the fourth-largest economy in the Eurozone, post-Brexit. Its economy grew over 3% from 2015 to 2017 and 2.5% in 2018. Record tourism and export levels, coupled with a revived domestic consumption, helped drive its recent recovery. Forecasts for the next several years suggest growth around 2.2 percent.
Portugal has a population of 10.3 million and it is considered a ‘gateway’ to third markets where Portuguese is spoken, reaching over 230 million people. In 2017, it registered a record 2.7% growth. Outside of the European Union, the United States is its largest trading partner. Portugal has steadily increased the number of American products it imports annually and continues to develop its economy.
