The U.S. Commercial Service, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s export promotion arm, and its strategic partner USA Healthcare Alliance (USAHA) invite you to join a Virtual Med-Tech Trade Forum with Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. The forum, spread out over four two-hour sessions, will focus on Medical Devices and Health IT and will take a deep dive into the best prospects for increasing the sales of U.S. health technologies in these fast-growing markets.
Joining the Forum will allow companies to:
• Participate in discussions between government officials and industry experts from the United States and ASEAN region regarding post-pandemic healthcare trends and priorities in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand.
• Learn about regional commercial opportunities and challenges, as well as U.S. government resources to support market entry and expansion in the ASEAN region.
• Connect directly with potential partners, buyers, and end-users in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand via a virtual platform.

Why Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand
These countries want to improve patient experience and healthcare outcomes for its citizens and attract patients from the region. They are looking for U.S. product solutions particularly in cardiology, oncology, cosmetic surgery and other treatment areas.

Vietnam is a dynamic market with total healthcare expenditures of approximately $18 billion in 2021. The market is forecasted to grow almost 9.2% per year through 2025 to $26 billion. Over 90% of medical equipment and supplies are imported into the country. Further, the central authorities and Ministry of Health have announced plans to create centers of excellence for medical devices and patient care.

Malaysia’s healthcare expenditures are forecast to double to $28 billion by 2028, growing annually by 7%. Healthcare delivery is evenly split between the private and public sectors, and the country aims to be a top medical travel destination, with pre-COVID visitors totaling over one million and revenues of $433 million in 2019. Providers are planning to offer best-in-class medical treatments by innovating and digitizing their healthcare infrastructure. Specialized treatments represent additional areas of opportunity, including fertility, oncology, and cardiology.

Thailand’s healthcare expenditures totaled $30 billion in 2020 and are projected to grow 6.6% annually, reaching $41.2 billion in 2025. A top medical travel destination, the country posted $726 million in revenue from this segment, which is expected to grow 14%/year. The U.S. is the top supplier of medical technology, accounting for 21% of total imports.
