Congressman Anthony Gonzalez hosts USMCA conference

On August 1st, 2019, Congressman Anthony Gonzalez (OH-16) hosted a USMCA Conference in Strongsville, Ohio featuring the acting Director General of the US Commercial Service Ian Steff. After Mr. Steff’s keynote address, the event featured an industry panel featuring executives from the US Chamber of Commerce, the Ohio Corn and Wheat Association, and Origin Milk company to discuss the potential impact of the USMCA on various industry sectors. The 75+ attendees then had the opportunity to ask acting Director General Steff and the panel members specific questions on how it may affect their businesses.

Attendees included elected officials from around the region including, but not limited to: Olmsted Township, City of Strongsville, City of North Royalton, City of Orrville, City of Westlake, and various economic development officials as well.

As part of acting Director General Steff’s outreach efforts his keynote speech discussed the new benefits of the USMCA and how it will help Ohio companies compete more favorably in the Canadian and Mexican markets, particularly in the automotive and agricultural sectors.
